About this Course

Target Audience

Personnel intending to become DP Operators and who have completed both the DP Induction course and the Nautical Institute requirement for 30 days supervised DP watch keeping.

Course Aims

To provide simulated training in the practice of Dynamic Positioning that complements a delegate’s sea going experience and the preceding induction course with simulated exercises including faults, errors and failures. The course is designed to meet the needs of the marine and offshore industries and is accredited by the Nautical Institute Training Scheme.

Course Content

Simulated exercises based on case studies.

Delivery

Classroom and high fidelity simulation using Kongsberg Simrad SDP21 duplex DP, and ConverTeam series ‘C’ simulators.

Certification

ASET Certificate recognised and approved by the Nautical Institute as leading towards the internationally recognised Nautical Institute DP Operators Certificate.

Minimum Instructor Qualification/Experience

  • Class 1 (Master Mariner) or Class 2 meeting the required standard set by the Nautical Institute.

Special Requirements

Entry to this course as part of the Nautical Institute scheme requires delegates to have completed at least 30 days supervised watch keeping and to have attended a recognised DP induction course.
