ASET acquired the Shell Operations training facility in February 2000, arguably the finest of its kind anywhere in the world. ASET provides a diverse range of further education and oil & gas-related vocational training, including theoretical and practical subjects at a number of levels. These include short courses (accredited by City & Guilds of London), Vocational Qualifications (VQs), Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND), as well as modern apprenticeship courses. We can also customise programmes in terms of training equipment or assessment materials to meet specific client requirements. Customised courses can be designed to meet the assessment criteria of awarding bodies.
ASET is an SVQ-approved training centre in the North-East of Scotland, and provides training for industry technician apprentices. Aberdeen College in conjunction with OPITO has created an Oil Industry Technicians Training Programme. This unique scheme is fully endorsed by the North Sea Oil Industry. The programme is titled the Offshore Petroleum Industry Technician Training Programme (OPITTP) and is a two year, full-time course comprising practical training and further education. Trainees who successfully complete it will achieve a portfolio of nationally accredited qualifications, including SVQs and HNCs at the appropriate levels.

Aberdeen College Mission Statement
ASET's parent organisation, Aberdeen College, is the second largest college of further education in Scotland and is located in the heart of Scotland's offshore oil and gas industry.
The College serves an extensive geographical area of around 60 miles north/south and 60 miles westward from Aberdeen itself. Aberdeen College offers over 4,700 programmes, from full-time HNDs to single units. Courses are delivered at the College's four main centres, in over 100 community locations, via distance learning and in the workplace, to over 28,000 different individuals a year.
